In the southwest, you won’t find the lone star just on the Texas flag, you also might find it on the side of masonry buildings. Anchor plates are cast in the shape of a five pointed star, and connected to a tie rod or bolt for structural reinforcement. Typically, because anchor plates can be seen on the outside of buildings, they are made in a decorative style. You may be able to spot star anchor plates in cities with legacies of 18th and 19th century brick construction, but if you’re not in the mood for a scavenger hunt, we have iron anchor plate stars in the store. Re-purpose these by adding hinges and making a door knocker or hanger, or arrange the stars in an artistic pattern to decorate an interior wall.
