Produced by Steuben Glass works and artfully designed by Frederick Carder, these shades are truly stunning. In Stueben catalogs, this shade was known as #2250. The gold line work has an organic quality to it. Dynamic movement is created with the line work that extends to the top of the shade and the gold interior adds an unexpected pop of color.

Carder was born in 1863 in Staffordshire, England. He grew up to become a renown glass artist. In 1903, Carder founded Steuben Glass Works. The firm did fairly well in its early years, having perfected the Gold Aurene design that was very similar to iridescent art glass produced by Tiffany. However, Steuben had a hard time staying afloat during World War I when wartime restrictions made it difficult to get the materials they needed. In 1918 Steuben Glass Works became the Steuben Division of Corning Glass Works, but continued to produce colored art glass until its last known sale in 1943.
