This High Victorian style pendant light combines carefully etched and cut glass shades with intricately crafted wrought iron ornamentation of leaves and curling scroll shapes. The end of the 19th century introduced a simpler and lighter construction and design than the earlier Victorian period, as well as more hanging fixtures. Glue chip is the texture created on the surface of a piece of glass. It is called "glue chipped glass" because the surface of the glass is chipped by the controlled action of a particular type of hide glue. The decorative effect looks like crystallized ice, and blocks the view through the glass without blocking the light. Place this lantern in an entryway, stairwell, or hallway to provide a soft diffused light.
