AA# 47222

Absolutely stunning early American brass chandelier with unique swirling Vaseline glass globes. Also known as uranium glass, it glows green under UV light thanks to uranium oxide added to the glass in is molten state. A small amount - just .1-.2% uranium oxide - will give the glass its characteristic color and glow. The term “Vaseline glass” was coined in the 1920’s and refers to the glass’ pale yellow-green color and its resemblance to petroleum jelly.

Orb-like in shape with hypnotic lines throughout, the shades sit perfectly in the large fitters laden with curving, organic lines. The body features curving pieces of twisted brass, adding to the fixture’s whimsical quality. This is a truly unique piece; we have not seen another like it!
