Steuben Glass works was founded in 1903 by Frederick Carder, an immigrant from England, he came to America in pursuit of achieving his version of the American Dream. To design, produce, and sell colored Art Glass shades. His magnum opus was the incredible invention of Aurene, a rainbow colored and gold tinted glass. His pursuits were rivaled by such Art Glass makers as Tiffany Co. and Quezal. There will only be less and less of these shades in existence, Art Glass in America was produced between the turn of the century through the closing of Corning Glass works, around 1943. The manufacturing methods are unavailable today and the bespoke nature of each shade is what makes these so valuable.
