This beastly five light torpedo chandelier has a lot to look at. From the crown of leaves that round the canopy down to the prominent form of the equally pointed frosted torpedo shades. This large light is mostly symmetrical, a pair of chimera’s steal the show of this piece. While they could be defined as sphinxes, with the combination of female, lion and eagle parts. The difference of the head being that of a lion instead of a woman moves it out of the category of a sphinx. The chimeras devolve into acanthus leaves that wrap around the bottom of the chandelier. Apples and grape vines add an organic element and break the symmetry of this piece to ensure every angle is something unique. The heaviness of the black sculptural elements is balanced by the strong gold structure of this amazing light.
We find that early antique lighting was designed as objects of art and we treat each fixture with careful attention to preserve original beauty. Our fixtures are cleaned, rewired & are ready to hang, following UL standards. We can work with you on code requirements.
