This incredible tracery room divider is a portal to another world. One where art and architecture combined so that each element of a home spoke to a specific type of character. This is a delicate addition to a space, the Art Nouveau style cut outs are supported by “spindley” Corinthian columns. Floral medallions corner the panels of the base. It comes apart into 3 sections, the two ends and the center overhead.
The delicate nature of this piece does mean that it is easily damaged. Multiple repairs have been made and some gaps in the tracery have happened, please see photos in detail. One of the medallions has been reattached incorrectly and there is a mug stain on the top part of the partition. The stain has also “alligatoring” which is common with antique wood elements sealed with varnish or shellac. While this is something to note, here at architectural antiques we are always proponents of keeping items in their amazing antique condition, alligator skin and all!
