This unique bowl pendant features an elegantly curving body that attaches to a highly decorative Vaseline glass shade. Also known as uranium glass, it glows green under UV light thanks to uranium oxide added to the glass in is molten state. A small amount - just .1-.2% uranium oxide - will give the glass its characteristic color and glow. The term “Vaseline glass” was coined in the 1920’s and refers to the glass’ pale yellow-green color and its resemblance to petroleum jelly.
The shade is encircled by six female figures in high relief, alternating different dancing poses. Some twirl ribbons while others are shrouded in flowing pieces of fabric. The glass is thicker around the figures, casting them in a darker shadow when the pendant is lit. This fixture is a great conversation piece and a beautiful work of art.
