This hand painted educational model of skin on the sole of the foot has a 3-dimensional texture. It has a company plaque on the base from Denoyer-Geppert of Chicago and the painter has signed the bottom right end of the model.
This model along with other strange biological finds are from the Biology department of St. Catherine’s University in St. Paul, Minnesota.

Human anatomy was the most prominent of the biological sciences of the 19th and early 20th centuries. The discipline also progressed to establish growing sources of knowledge in histology and developmental biology. As a supplement to intricately drawn diagrams in books, plastic models were cast to replace the need for bodies. Use these models for teaching in a classroom or at home, or use these as a conversation starter in a room with oddities of the 20th century.
