Federal style carved gesso and bent glass pendant with flower and garland detail.

This pendant references the Federal style in the use of Neoclassical ornamentation including garlands, shell motifs, the tassel ornament at the base, and the elliptical curve of the pendant. The gold ornamentation comes from carving a layer of wood, gesso - a mixture of chalk and glue, and clay, before placing gold leafing or paint on top, as well as burnishing some elements.
