This unusual fixture contains fanciful scrolls that gracefully wrap around the harp, varying in diameter to give the fixture a feeling of whimsy and to emphasize its shape and line. Originally a gas lamp, it has been converted to an electric pendant or 'drop lamp'. The single socket is housed within an iron basket with a smoke bell hanging from a delicate chain, an original feature that was used to deflect soot from reaching the ceiling.  The gas key, floral details, and studded canopy also add to the fixture's charm and authenticity.
