Architectural Antiques Educational Workshop Series
Working with Antique Hardware
Friday April 20th at 1 pm
There is a vast array of antique door hardware available for restoration projects and to install in new construction. These small details provide beauty and charm to any home. But, many are unique, unusual, hard-to-find and hard to repair!
Curious about antique door knobs or ‘house jewelry’? Are you the owner of a new ‘old’ home with antique hardware that is need of repair? Would you like to learn more about door hardware, how they work and the many nuances/differences in style? Or, are you interested in installing antique hardware into new construction?
We are presenting a free workshop on April 20th for home owners and hardware enthusiasts. Information will include:
- A brief history of door hardware.
- An overview of different types of historical hardware, including rim locks, passage and privacy locks.
- Research tools to help you find certain patterns or styles of hardware or to reproduce hardware with lost wax casting.
- Tools and information about our ability to help you trouble shoot and fix existing hardware.
We will allow for questions at the end of the presentation
Feel free to share this info with anyone that may be interested or in need of an antique hardware tutorial.
There is limited space available for our workshops. We will contact you if the workshop is full and keep a waiting list to let you know if a spot opens up or if we extend the workshop to further sessions, times and dates.
